Sometime back in the '90's, many people were talking about the concept of "virtual reality," (a phrase just starting to make it into wide circulation in the language at that point). In a conversation of friends once around that time, somebody suggested that if there's such a thing as virtual reality, there must also be such a thing as "virtual illusion."
Virtual reality: it seems real, or almost real, but isn't quite. Computer simulations, computer-generated imagery, etc.
Virtual illusion: it seems like it's not real, it seems like it's an illusion, but it's not quite, it is in fact (barely) real.
The immediate example we came up with was Dan Quayle. (I would also add Martha Stewart. Just off the top of my head.)
I don't have any idea what this might have to do with your short and somewhat cryptic post, but it seems, somehow, related.
"My Gift is that I'm not beautiful.
My career was never about looks.
It's about health and being in good shape." ~Shirley Maclaine/
For Lalo, because I miss your "¡Ajúa!"
